Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM
Added by Anthony Thomas over 10 years ago
I've recently started getting a number of drops/freezes in XBMC on encrypted channels even though the ECM times are more than suitable (<200ms).
Currently using TVH 3.9.1094~g9a6940c and OSCam r9812.
Ubuntu 12.04.4
DVB Cards
2 x TBS 8920
1 x TBS 6981
Drivers - lja open-source
CPU - Intel Xeon E3110
Network - CAT6 - 1GBit.
Frontends - OpenElec 4.0.7
CSA method is OSCam Mode 4 - /tmp/camd.socket
OSCam logs show the ECMs being received on schedule (every ~7 secs) and within a reasonable speed (<200ms). There's no disconnections, timeouts or failed ECMs.
I thought it might be a driver or signal issue so tried across all the DVB-S2 cards but it's the same on them all.
Only thing that pops up in the TVH logs is
[ INFO]:capmt: Removing CAPMT Server from service
then
[ INFO]:capmt: Starting CAPMT server for service
I'll check if I can see anything else.

I got the same problem since I updated my ~1089 build to the newer ones (running 1133 now).
Unencrypted channels work fine, but encrypted channels simply stop/freeze.
I am not using CAPMT but newcamd (Code Word) protocol to Oscam
In the log I see:

An old copy of TvHeadend on my Synology works perfectly fine with the same Oscam-server.
In the Revisions-log on TvHeadend I notice Jaroslav Kysela made quite some changes to the descrambler/cwc-interface. Perhaps this is causing the issues we have..

Oscam produces when I switch to a channel which I do have a subscription too (and have valid entitlement):

RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Jos E over 10 years ago
I pulled build 1070 from the Repository and my problem is not in that build. Perhaps this will work for you too, Anthony.
To do this, you need to build it yourselves. What I did:
I looked up a suitable build from :
https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/repository/revisions?page=4
where I saw a date where it was still working (before Jaroslav Kysela his fixes to the ECM / Descrambler code -> I picked 39b6bc1d
git clone https://github.com/tvheadend/tvheadend
cd tvheadend/
git checkout 39b6bc1d
./Autobuild.sh (I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 - so that worked from this version on)
In your parent-directory you will now find a file called tvheadend_3.9.1070~g39b6bc1_amd64.deb
You can install this package by running
dpkg -i tvheadend_3.9.1070~g39b6bc1_amd64.deb
This will downgrade your current version to version 1070 (from 2014-07-10). This version works for me with encrypted channels fine.
Hope it works out for you as a temporary work-around.

Thanks for finding a commit point that solved your issues.
Going to give it a try here too.
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Anthony Thomas about 10 years ago
Not done a huge amount of testing but the problem looks to have disappeared by reverting back to that commit.
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Thomas Lobker about 10 years ago
Same problem here, after upgrading tvheadend encrypted channels stopped working after a couple of seconds, with an access denied message. Rolling back to commit 39b6bc1d worked for me.
aptitude install git build-essential debhelper libavahi-client-dev libssl-dev zlib1g-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev liburiparser-dev cd /usr/local/src/ git clone https://github.com/tvheadend/tvheadend cd tvheadend/ git checkout 39b6bc1d ./Autobuild.sh cd .. dpkg -i tvheadend_3.9.1070~g39b6bc1_amd64.deb
Hope it will be fixed in a future release

Same here with Ziggo. Hopefully fixed soon.
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Anthony Thomas about 10 years ago
So far it looks like my issue has gone with g99ed831.
I haven't tested any earlier, just built from source earlier today.
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Anthony Thomas about 10 years ago
Scratch that. Still issues
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by J H about 10 years ago
Confirmed to be not fixed;

RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Anthony Thomas about 10 years ago
Looking like issues are resolved for me.
It certainly looks that way.
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by J H about 10 years ago
Not fixed for me

RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Jaroslav Kysela about 10 years ago
Note that this problem should be fixed in v3.9-1529-gb2d0156 . If you have any problems, open a ticket (issue) and point to the trace log (descrambler, cwc).
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by J H about 10 years ago
Not fixed for me, so I opened a ticket as you suggested. https://tvheadend.org/issues/2311
Thanks for helping out!
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Jaroslav Kysela about 10 years ago
OK, small bug was there and also ECM filtering was improved now. Try: v3.9-1537-g3ac7a43
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Jaroslav Kysela about 10 years ago
More minor tweaks: v3.9-1539-g286509b
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Jos E about 10 years ago
Jaroslav,
For me the build 3.9.1540~g962f99c is working properly. Thanks for the hard work, hopefully others can report it being fixed too
RE: Freezes on encrypted channels - good ECM - Added by Thomas Lobker about 10 years ago
Fixed in the latest release
Thanks for the effort and all the good work.
