OScam & TVheadend
Added by Peter Ustinov almost 11 years ago
Hi,
I am trying to watch my pay tv subscription using tvheadend and oscam. The tvheadend server (3.9.277~g1dcb094-dirty) is running on a synology 213+ and the OScam server is running on a freetzed FritzBox 7390. From the logs of OSCam, it seems to work fine, here are some lines:

But Tvheadend is not descrambling the encrypted channels. FTA channels work fine.
Of course, I have an code word entry for the OScam and as you can see in the log above, the user is correctly connected. In the status of tvheadend the bitrate is at 130kb/s when tuning in an encrypted channel.
Any hints? Any known probs?
Thanks!

No entry in the TVHeadend log?
Im still using capmt connection in TVHeadend with a local oscam connected to my oscam 'server', running on a pogoplug.... works fine.
RE: OScam & TVheadend - Added by Peter Ustinov almost 11 years ago
Hi,
no entry, unfortunatly. I wouldn't like to use a local OScam instance on the synology cause I fear that this will prevent the NAS to fall into sleep while not watching tv....do you know s/t about that?
How do I have to configure OScam on my synology to work with capmt? Maybe I can try this to see if the Oscam server on my FritzBox is working correctly.....
Thanks for youre help!
RE: OScam & TVheadend - Added by Matthias Strack almost 11 years ago
Dont know about standby while running oscam, my host is running 24/7
You can try to install oscam on your synology and configure a reader and dvbapi (i use camd35).
[file oscam.server]
[reader]
label = camd35-reader
protocol = camd35
device = IP,PORT
user = USER
password = PASS
caid = 098C,1843
group = 1
emmcache = 1,1,2
[file oscam.conf]
[global]
logfile = /var/log/oscam.log
[dvbapi]
enabled = 1
au = 1
user = dvbapi
boxtype = pc
[webif]
httpport = 8888
httpallowed = 127.0.0.1,192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255,10.8.0.0-10.8.0.255
[file oscam.user]
[account]
user = dvbapi
pwd = dvbapi
monlevel = 4
au = 1
emmreassembly = 1
group = 1
Thats my config.
In tvheadend you must add a new capmt connection.
[x] Enabled camd.socket filename=/tmp/camd.socket listenport=9000 [x] Oscam Mode
Thats it, working on my setup.

Hi,
ok, I tried OScam (with my previous settings) on a Raspberry Pi and Tvheadend also on the Pi. That works....but the Pi is too slow for HD What can be the reason that it works there but not on the Synology NAS? Any Network settings?

"but the Pi is too slow for HD"
works for me, what kind of codec is used?
did you buy the codec keys from http://www.raspberrypi.com/license-keys ?

Hi,
I didn't know that I have to buy a codec. I thought that the server just forwards the stream....
Which codec shall I buy? Is the MPEG-2 enough?
Thanks!,
RE: OScam & TVheadend - Added by D. S. almost 11 years ago
hello again,
for playback of MPEG-2 SD TV channels i needed the codec.
For HD channels there is no codec needed, VC-1 is more often found in
downloaded .mkv's - speaking of playback on a Rpi
So, from what i understand, if you run oscam and tvheadend on the pi,
your HD channels are not working or stuttering ?
Whats your playback device?
greetings
