I have posted this link before - you may or may not find it helpful. It was not written with IPTV in mind, so it may be of limited usefulness, but at least it may give you the general overview on getting xml formatted guide data into Tvheadend.
I don't use IPTV so really can't say anything about that.

Did you get this working?
I can't believe how little information there is out there on a getting a guide working for IPTV.
Thanks.

I seem to recall at least 3 separate threads on this forum about different ways to get XMLTV data into Tvheadend. While the posts may be well over a year old, the process hasn't changed at all.
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by niek x almost 7 years ago
i did not try this actually. I still used IPTV simply client (there i can easy add a link)
When i have more time i want to used tvheadend again, because i have more IPTV url's. I search also for a information how to add EPG. But i did not find any usedful information to add the EPG. So i give it more time hopefully someone could give me the right information

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your comment correctly, or if it is a language/translation issue ... what I am understanding your statement is this:
You did not try to search for information on how to incorporate an XML-based guide source into Tvheadend. You are not currently using Tvheadend, but some time in the future you may, and you hope that when you do decide to use Tvheadend someone will give you information that you still haven't searched for.
Is that an accurate interpretation of your post, or did I misunderstand what you meant?
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by niek x almost 7 years ago
I first setup kodi with the add-on IPTV simply client and included there the EPG, very easy setup
But i want to watch more URL's. So 3 month ago i installed TVheadend , and try to setup this add-on for IPTV
I succeed in adding the IPTV stream in TVheadend, but i could not get the EPG working.
So i searched on the internet, how to add an EPG in TVheadend. But unfortunately i could not find the answer. So i switched to IPTV simply client again. So when i have more time and more information how to add it, i would like to try it again
Maybe the answer is in K Shea reply

Can't you use the xmltv setting in the Tvheadend addon to point to the url? Then you just have to enable the internal xmltv grabber in tvh, then map the epg source to the channels?
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by Tokyo Steam almost 7 years ago
I was able to finally get the guide to import with my IPTV. I used the internal grabber.
I enabled the internal grabber in TVH
Then in the settings in TVheadend Server 4.2
It was a simple as setting the xmltv source type to WEB, then putting the url in the xmltv web location.
Then back in the web-viewer for TVheadend, i clicked on Re-run Internal EPG Grabbers.
It took about 5 mins to complete but I was watching the log window and it finally popped up!
I might not have been waiting long enough previously and was making changes before it could complete. Then once I saw this in the log window, it took another few mins before I saw the guide import the data in kodi.
Now I just hope this runs automatically every so often to keep updating my guide.
this was the output from the log.

RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by niek x almost 7 years ago
my URL does not contain an EPG. At teh add-on "IPTV simply client" i use http://unlimitedhd.iptv-epg.nl/guide.xml
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by niek x almost 7 years ago
@Chod Chod
Where is the internal XLMTV pointing to ? or where did you got the EPG file from
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by Tokyo Steam almost 7 years ago
You just check of the the box like this and save it https://ibb.co/kG96wm
And then in your kodi software you go to the TVheadon server and enter http://unlimitedhd.iptv-epg.nl/guide.xml in the web
That is go to addons -> My addons - > Services -> Tvheadend server X.X -> Configure ->
Then set your xmltv source type -> WEB
Then Xmltv web location -> http://unlimitedhd.iptv-epg.nl/guide.xml

@Chod Chod
Ok, i see now. something like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoV2vbgSevE
i did not notice that at the tvheadend at kodi, also something could be set
i hope i have time this weekend to try this
thanks

@Chod Chod
Did you managed to get more then one IPTV url at tvheadend?
And normally at a paid IPTV url you have only 1 stream at a time. So if you watch more then one stream at the same time , the url will be blocked
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by niek x almost 7 years ago
i made some spare time you made me curious
So added also the settings. i had some problems with the URL, but YES now it is working.
Now i can test if Tvheadend is more stable then IPTV.
Hopfully the guide will be updated.. there are a lot of settings which can be done, still something to do.
but this is the first step
thx Chod Chod
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by Tokyo Steam almost 7 years ago
Glad it works for you. It works really well with my OTA channels with hdhomerun tuner and my IPTV channels. I'm very happy with it. The guide works and I can use any device to view the channels or recorded tv.
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by Tokyo Steam almost 7 years ago
My Amazon firestick with kodi and tvheadend client works perfect with this as well.
RE: EPG for IPTV - Added by niek x almost 7 years ago
i tested now for an hour or so, wating soccer
and i see the SD stream is running smoothly
But when i select the HD stream its picture freezes very often, for some seconds
this is realy irritating
Actially it should be more buffered or so
