Built in xmltv grabbers / modules
Added by Schmell Mafeet over 8 years ago
I am sure that this question has been asked before, but i cannot find it in the forums.
I am using the OpenELEC Tvh-addon v6.0.4 and i am wondering why xmltv isn't compiled with the grabbers included as it is if i where to install it on other linux systems?
I have to jump through hoops to generate the xmltv.xml file and either send it to xmltv.sock or place it in a file using multiple machines and a server with cron jobs that are ultimately un-reliable.
Anyway i just thought it would be much simpler to be able to generate the xmltv.xml file on the machine running the service. Maybe there is a way to do this and i just have not been able to find it online as well, in which case maybe someone can give me a clue.

I also want to know if there is a solution to get the xmltv.xml somehow directly through some script running on libreelec. Any ideas?

The reason is that OpenELEC/LibreELEC are purpose-built for Kodi, and the developers don't seem to care about making their systems extensible. Because of this, it is nearly impossible to be third-party software into those systems.
Personally I would recommend staying away from them and using a true OS, not a pared-down appliance system.
