how messages are sorted?

The messages sorting order is "strange".... they aren't , as i aspected, sorted by last message posted, but something like that, but not exactly.

i attach the screenshot where the messages "content type/category" is posted yesterday, but it is at the end of the page, after some posted 7 or 8 month ago...

I don't understand this either and it makes it quite hard to follow the forum. For example I replied to my own topic that's been sitting for about a month and it doesn't get bumped to the first page so I doubt anyone has even noticed the new post and read it.
