Bug #5780
Non existing directory /storage/recordings prevents recording with low informative message "Time missed"
0%
Description
Here is the background issue: https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.hts/issues/436
Raspberry Pi 4+TV hat+LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.1.502+Kodi 18.4 (Linux Kernel 4.19.x) having HTS Tvheadend 4.2.8-27 ~ LibreELEC Tvh-addon v9.2.0.120
On default installation, the recording failed due to non-existing recording directory /storage/recordings which is by default defined in Configuration/Recording/Default profile/Recording system path.
I think that the best option would be if TVheadend automaticaly create the directory, autoselect some that exist (in my case /storage/tvshows) which would prevent failures. If really not possible, then user should be invited to select the directory among existing ones during installation.
Nothing-saying general status "Time missed" on failed Recordings tab. Should be able to be clicked or the red erroneous icon to show mouse hover menu or the info box with more details about exact cause of the recording failure (ie: TVheadend recordings save path does not exist, you have to create it or change it in configuration)

This is a Libreelec issue, a default tvheadend installation will create all the files and directories it needs. Also you are running an outdated version of tvheadend, so if this will get fixed (if it isn't already) it will most likely not be backported to 4.2.

I downloaded latest LibreELEC like 2 weeks ago and kept automatic updates enabled, so i do not know what else i need to do to make tvheadend up to date.
There is a bug report created on LibreElec site, should be visible soon: https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/20778-non-existing-directory-storage-recordings-prevents-recording-with-low-informativ/

The installer creates that folder but not Tvh itself if I am not mistaken? So if I change the folder at Tvh to /some/where/123
this path is not created.
Depending from which point you look at it it is good or bad. From user point of view this is really bad.

yes it is, we do not carry a perfect workaround for this Tvh issue, so if you never access the samba share the folder get never created :/

Nope this is pretty much up to date to latest version, of course it is not a highly unstable development version from master that no regular user should touch.

The issue describes the default path being not created, and that is not true. The default path on a default installation is created.
highly unstable development version
... which is actually more stable than any 4.2 version. And I haven't experienced anything "highly unstable", not sure what you are talking about there. Could you provide some evidence for instability of the current master?
