Is there any way to reset the password without going through the hassle of setting up the whole system again.
Please help.
I tried editing the startup file and entering "-C". But this had no effect.
I added another user in the sc-media group.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the feedback.
It seems that the Synology distribution has modified the folder location.
I cannot find the folder.

After a lot of googling a found the folders but the superuser file approach does not work.
This is take so much of my precious time, it is so super frustating.

No answer after 30 days.
Do i really have to repeat the daunting installation process?
There are so many "enhancements" in tvheadend. But a simple process to reset the user password is not existing. I cannot believe this.

Unfortunately, the synology packaging scheme is too much different from the standard Linux distributions, so we cannot give you more hints. There's also '--noacl' command argument to ignore all user/password checks to let to fix your issue. Note that this argument should not be used in the standard environment. Also, you may upload your 'accesscontrol' and 'passwd' directories (from the main config dir) for analysis, but this way, you uncover your credentals. It maybe better to ask on a forum where someone is using tvheadend on synology.

Thanks Jaroslav for the hint with the '--noacl' parameter.
I was able to login and change the password of the user.
I realized that one cannot use '$' within the password.
Using a '$' I received the strange behavior I described above.
This seems to be a bug probably only in the Synology package.
