Bug #4897
CA0 shows Slot Empty in TvHeadend although the CI+ Module is inserted
0%
Description
Hello together, I am using TvH 4.2 with a TechnoTrend 3650 tuner and am able to watch the TV channels which are not encrypted without any problem. Although the CI+ Module is inserted in the tuner, TvH shows an empty slot. What I have observed is that when I perform a USBRESET command for the TechnoTrend tuner, TvH immediately identifies the CI+ module but the USBRESET process remains stuck and does not finish (see the screenshots from attachment). After that, I am only able to watch the programs after I reboot the operating system.
As I do not know what the issue can be, and not able to watch the encrypted channels I request your help.
Do you have any ideas how to find a workaround for this?

@ Debrau Nepasat
Can you connect your tuner via external powered USB Hub,
and see if there is a difference.

Will do! Sorry for that, my mistake!

Hello saen acro,
I will try that, I have first to get a USB Hub because I do not have one. Can you recommend something you have made good experience with?
Thanks!

Note that all USB DVB-S tuners should be powered using an external power source (adapter). The USB hub is not necessary, if you use this power source.

Hello, the Tuner has an external power source (it's own), it is not using the USB power. By knowing that you still recommend to try with a USB Hub powered separately? Thanks.

External power source power only tuner and LNB
at less my terratec work at this scenario
USB power only modulator IR and CI
Easy to test when attach to usb only without external power
and see DMESG

Hello saen acro, I have checked the USB power consumption, please see below:
lsusb -v|egrep "^Bus|MaxPower"
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
MaxPower 0mA
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 1058:1042 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. Elements SE Portable (WDBPCK)
MaxPower 224mA
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
MaxPower 0mA
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0b48:300d TechnoTrend AG TT-connect CT-3650 CI
MaxPower 10mA
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
MaxPower 0mA
MaxPower 10mA seems not to be more than usb 2.0 can handle, what do you think?

Hello together again,
Finally I have managed to try again after buying a USB Hub with external power.
Unfortunately I get again the same error as I got without the USB hub, please see below log:
un Dec 23 22:07:56 2018 daemon.notice tvheadend1704: linuxdvb: CAM slot 0 status changed to module present
Sun Dec 23 22:07:58 2018 kern.warn kernel: [ 333.539619] dvb_ca adapter 0: DVB CAM link initialisation failed :(
Sun Dec 23 22:07:58 2018 daemon.notice tvheadend1704: linuxdvb: CAM slot 0 status changed to slot empty
- uname -a
Linux LEDE 4.4.92 #0 SMP Tue Oct 17 17:46:20 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux
Is there any workaround for that?

Have also tried with the newest TvH and the same...

What hardware are you using? What OS/linux kernel version?
May be related to this:[[https://tvheadend.org/boards/13/topics/26397]]
Have you tried unplugging and the plugging in the module while tvheadend is running? (as opposed to a USB reset)
Have you tried disabling then enabling the module through the tvheadend web interface?

Please see attached screenshot, Hardware: Router Linksys WRT1900AC & Tuner Technotrend 3650 CI (Philips TDA 10023) and OS OpenWRT LEDE Reboot 17.01.4 r3560-79f57e422d / LuCI Master (git-17.096.72108-3fc0465).
I tried to unplug and plug back while TvH running with no luck. What happens is that initially the CA is identified as present and within 10 seconds it goes back to not present.
I have also tried to disable and re-enable with no luck.
Any further ideas?...I cannot get it to work

Hello together,
I have managed to get TvH to recognize the CA Slot after updating to the latest OpenWRT Kernel and latest TvH 4.2.8. Unfortunately, I still get following error:
Sun Jan 20 16:41:36 2019 daemon.err tvheadend19735: en50221: failed to decode PMT
Sun Jan 20 16:41:37 2019 daemon.err tvheadend19735: en50221: failed to decode PMT
Sun Jan 20 16:41:37 2019 kern.err kernel: [11535.866301] dvb_ca_en50221: dvb_ca adapter 0: Invalid PC card inserted
Any help or ideea where the problem can come from?
Thank you!
