Description

I came to Tvheadend looking for a TV streamer server DTMB compatible. Turns out Tvheadend is not. After some posts @saen_acro and I were talking about any external support (DTMB). He (@saen_acro) found very useful info about the DTMB standard and some reference. I am creating this issue with the risk of being denied but I guess it worth to check out the info (developers). Maybe in some future months you guys could think about it.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see why this would be denied, the only issues that are going to stall this is..

  • Access to hardware (and a signal). I suppose it could be done remotely over ssh?
  • Developer time - tvh only has a few developers (and we're extremely lucky to have them). Most are based in Europe. Not to mention they have other commitments too.

This does not mean that it'll never happen, it just needs someone with access to hardware/signal and the knowledge to implement it.

Calling all C developers in People's Republic of China, Cuba, Hong Kong, and Macau! :P

From the forum post which points to the http://goughlui.com/2015/02/23/trip-to-hk-cn-2014-part-3-hong-kong-free-to-air-dtmb-analysis/ page. There's info:

"instead of making a whole new subset of a standard and cause the need for rewriting tuner applications to support DTMB, all DTMB tuners known to date exploit the DVB-T standard and present themselves as if they were a DVB-T tuner. Bingo! The capture application worked, as long as I plugged in the right frequency, and 8Mhz reception bandwidth."

So what does not work you, if you use DVB-T with the DTMB tuner in tvheadend ?

v4.3-627-gcb86ef166 - I found few missing pieces for the full DTMB support, but I cannot test it. Just pick DTMB Delivery system in the mux configuration (create DVB-T network). But we should probably create a new network type, because it has not much sense to create 'DVB-T' networks for DTMB.

@Mark_Clarkstone @Jaroslav_Kysela @saen_acro Once I know the required hardware (poor signal proccesing knowledge :( ) and get it from abroad will start running some tests in Cuba and feeding the post. Very happy for the support and thanks to all of you guys! https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/29454?r=29547
