Feature #3352
Pretune into next channel for improved zapping times.

Description
Hi!
The analysis in Post from this Ticket brought me to the idea.
https://tvheadend.org/issues/3336
Most of us have more than two tuners available. An typical user behavement is
to zap over to channels, starting from?
Wouldn't it be great if tvheadend tunes into the next upper channel? The tuning can be stopped if
the user keeps watching for x seconds/minutes.
For example:
User starts watching channel 3, at the same time tvheadend tunes into channel 4, user zapps into channel 4 and
tvheadend tunes into channel 5, user zaps into channel 5, tvheadend tunes into channel 6 .... and so on.....
If the user keeps watching for a defined volume of time channel 5, tuning of channel 6 will be stopped.
This would massively improve the felt zapping times!
I am willing to discuss / test this idea.
Thanks
Stephan

Looks like that is something that kodi will have in the future

I think this feature should be managed by kodi plugin (the linked thread says that this is already in the code). Tvheadend should at most provide a proper way to pretune a channel (I don't know which method is actually used by kodi plugin).

Thanks for Your sugestions.
If You but that behavior on kodi side, only kodi will work. Or only the hts plugin?
I have the idea in my mind, that not all people using kodi.
There are other clients, arent they?
Anyway, i will take a look at the code they are using.

I use this feature in the latest kodi hts plugin. Works great for me. Just look close in the settings of the hts plugin.
