Bug #234
mkv file generated by tvheadenv not playable in set top box
0%
Description
After upgrading from SVN-r4339 to SVN-r4981 (to take advantage of the fix supplied by ticket #218), the mkv files generated by this new version cannot be played in my set top box (a Dvico TViX M6620N). The error message is completely useless ("Unsupported format") and because it's an embedded settop box, there's no additional diagnostic information available.
All I can offer is that files generated by SVN-r4339 worked while those generated by SVN-r4981 don't. If it would help, I believe that I can generate small (1 minute or so) test case files for each format. Or if there is a utility that can print information about each file that's useful to a developer, I'd be happy to run it.
The same mkv files generated by SVN-r4981 which are not playable by the TViX unit ARE playable by xbmc, mplayer and xine, so I suspect there's a rather subtle difference in format between the two versions.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can supply to help in debugging this issue. In the meantime, I'll probably have to revert to the earlier version.

I can now add that SVN-r4927 DOES work on the TViX (that's the last revision before putting in the alternate matroska muxer). I'll try SVN-r4928 and beyond tomorrow...

I've fixed a couple of things today that might have been problematic.
See r4985 to r4988
Please try again with an updated version of Tvheadend.
Note that I verify the generated files with three different matroska validators and none
of them have any complaints on the file. This might be a hard nut to crack perhaps.

- Status changed from Accepted to Fixed
- Found in version set to fixed
I just compiled SVN-r4990 and it works just fine. Thanks!
BTW, I'd compiled SVN-r4928 today and found that the problem occurred between it and SVN-r4927.
Thanks for the fix!
