What codec/stream profile does HTSP use by default?
Added by Kendal Van Dyke about 1 year ago
Using tvheadend 4.2 with an HDHomeRun 4k Flex (US based) tuner and the HTSP client on Kodi...it's not obvious (even after cloning the GitHub repo and having a look for myself): What codec is HTSP using for streaming by default?
I know I can influence the choice of codec (say MPEG-TS vs H264) by creating new streaming profiles and specifying the profile name in the HTSP client config ... I'm talking about when I leave it blank.
The default stream profile is set to pass (MPEG-TS Pass-thru). Just for kicks, I've changed the default profile to audio and matroska, but neither change had any impact on what Kodi shows.
Is it just passing through whatever format the input stream is in when no streaming profile is specified?

PASS profile or AS IS do not change nothing.
Matroska is for record files not for live streaming.
