solved tvheadend no channels

Added by Jim Learmonth about 1 year ago

A bit of history.
A few years ago I used tvheadend, very good.
Then I acquired a freeview recording box so I didn't need tvheadend and it went unused.
My freeview box went on the blink so I acquired another.
Worked OK for a while then also when on the blink.
When I took the aerial wire out the back it seemed wet ????
Seems I have a mast head amp and water had seeped into the cable and run down to the box, sounds strange but true.

Anyway I decided to use tvheadend again.
Installed on my pi server and configured.
Selected winter hill.
No channels appeared.
It seems the muxs from the default setting are out of date.
So using https://billauer.co.il/blog/2017/02/linux-dvb-israel-digital-tv/
I found many channels and their freqs.
Edited first mux on list and changed freq to first from utility.
Tvheadend then found all the new muxes and channels.
Deleted any failed muxes.
Job sorted.

Then on to the Kodi client.
Configured and enabled it.
Spent half a day trying to get tv and radio to appear on the menu. No joy, gave up for the day.
Next day switched on and there they were by magic.
No idea what changed but hey it now works.

Hope this little rant helps.
