UK Stations on Astra 28.2e not showing up / how to configure two satellites or LNBs - solved
Added by Peter Schloten over 1 year ago
Hi,
I am new to TVHeadend and just got it setup on my NAS. I am using a Digital Devices Octopus Net with 4 DVB-S/S2 tuners. I have managed to set everything up with Astra 19.2e and 28.2e and am getting most of the TV Stations. The one thing that I am struggling with is getting the UK stations. On the Astra 28.2e network I am only getting the services of the German stations, but not of the UK stations.
Any idea what might be wrong? Thanks a lot for any help!
Best
Peter

Can you receive UK channels on another receiver? Many UK channels are transmitted on a very tight beam which covers only the UK.

Yes, that works. I have a SAT IP client on my iPad and get all the BBC stations, 5 USA, etc.

Many of the muxes numbers on Astra 19.2 are common with Astra 28.2. Are you sure you have your Sat Ip server correctly configured and it’s actually looking at the correct satellite when you try to scan Astra 28.2. 10773 H would be a good example of this.

Thanks a lot for the pointer. How can I see what satellite it is looking for when scanning?
Thanks

It sounds like your dish is only picking up Astra 19.2. What is you dish setup like. Is it motorised or fixed dish multi LNB with diseq switch. You may not have the tuner correctly configured in TVH to reflect your dish setup.

It is a fixed dish with two quad-LNBs connected to the DD Octopus Net. The setup has been working for MosaicTV and is still working with the SAT IP client on the iPad. The DD Octopus Net was automatically recognised by TVHeadend. Would you have a pointer for where to look for any configuration issues? Thanks a lot.

One of the LNBs directed at Astra 19.2 and one at Astra 28.2.

So one LNB on the feed arm aimed at Astra 19.2 and the other aimed at Astra 28.2. You’ll need to configure the tuners in TVH to reflect that. Are they straight feeds or via a Diseq switch

Exactly. And they are straight feeds. Where would I need to configure that?
Thanks a lot for your help!

This may give you an idea of what you need to do https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/758

Hmm, I am struggling with this one as I cannot see any of those Diseqc settings.

Are you using direct cable feeds to the tuner or via a Diseq switch

Here’s the config docs for TVH. Read through them to get an idea what you need to do. Also do a search of this forum via Google to find others who have experienced similar issues to yourself.

Finally found the solutions here https://www.kodinerds.net/thread/48743-2-satelliten-betreiben-mit-tvheadend/ and here https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/42506?r=42583. The trick was that for each position on the different tuners I needed to assign only one network, not both.
