EIT EPG: content type disappeared in 4.3.2145
Added by Martin Schlatter over 1 year ago
I updated from 4.3.2027 to 4.3.2145 on ubuntu jammy. Now the EPG content type disappeared. The content type normally describes if it news, movie and so on.
The other EPG information is there.
The EPG grabber is the internal OTA EIT grabber.
I'm using it in the german DVB-C.

I'm having a similar problem on Ubuntu 22.04. I updated to 4.3-2144 yesterday and the Content Type disappeared there as well. The Content Type field is empty everywhere.
4.3-2145 was released this morning and I updated it again because I trusted that it would be good, but I was wrong, there is still no Content Type content.
I also use the OTA EIT EPG grabber on Hungarian DVB-C channels.
I didn't change anything in the settings. How can I get the Content Type again?
Thanks

Newbie question, but how can I do this on Ubuntu 22.04? It would be fine as long as they fix it...
Thanks

Firstly, I apologise sincerely for the error.
I have a workaround that should restore the content identifier:
- Browse into your TVH system (http://{YOUR_TVH_IP_ADDRESS}:9981).
- Navigate to the tab 'Configuration' -> 'Channel / EPG' -> 'EPG Grabber'.
- Ensure that you set your 'View Level' (top right) to 'Expert'.
- The 'Over-the-air Genre Translation:' setting should appear.
- Enter '0=0' (no quotes) into this field and then press the 'Save' button.
- Press the 'Trigger OTA EPG Grabber'.
- Your EPG should be repopulated with the content identifier.
This workaround 'should' do no damage. It simply tells the EIT section to translate identifier 0 to identifier 0. As the identifier is the same and identifier 0 is 'Undefined' anyway, it should be ignored.
I have already identified the source of this problem and I will work to rectify the situation.
Naturally, I tested this on my system prior to releasing the change and it was working fine. However, I was able to reproduce this error on my system after first using a completely new/clean installation that has never had this modification and then upgrading.

Thank you, @Delta Mike Charlie, the solution is work for me. The Content Icons also disappeared during the updates, but now they have also appeared.
This is good news for me because there is no need to downgrade the tvheadend. It is unfortunate that this was left out of the updated package, but I think you or someone will fix it.
Thanks for the help and the quick solution.
Regards
