TVheadend install Ubuntu on VMWare ESXi 8
Added by s. steve over 1 year ago
Hi everybody,
I had to write to the forum a long time ago, because until now everything worked perfectly.
Until now, I've been running TVHeadend on Ubuntu 18.04 on a separate computer. Now, however, it needs to be replaced and the support for 18.04 is slowly coming to an end.
That's why I got a smaller Dell server on which I want to run VMWare ESXi 8 and install an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS server on it. TVHendend has a Digital Device Cine v7 tuner.
After installation, both VMWare and Ubuntu can see the tuner (lspci shows it) because it is accessible from the VM with the PCI-paththrough setting under VMWare.
I installed TVHeadend from the ppa:mamarley repo, but the tuners do not appear under Configuration/DVB inputs/TV adapters. Adapter entries are not created under /dev/dvb.
What could be the reason for this?
Anyone using TVHeadend under VMWare ESXi?
I don't want to recompile TVHeadend every kernel update, so is there a working TVHeadend package available for Ubuntu 22.04?
There used to be a well-maintained ppa for Ubuntu 18.04...
Thanks for your help

Do you install driver for tuner?
