Remove and Reinstall TVH - SOLVED
Added by Dinesh Patel over 1 year ago
How can I completely remove all tvheadend configuration, so that I can start from scratch, as though it is a new install? I am using the Ubuntu stable package, 20.04.5 LTS
I messed up during install. Now it's asking for user name and a password and i don't know either.
I have seen suggestion on deleting the “/home/hts/.hts/“ but I can’t find the “hts” folder in “home” or anywhere. Also only place I find a “tvheadend” folder is “./snap/tvheaend”
I tried to delete this folder but it won’t allow. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Clearly the channels have been found so scanning was successful.
Can you see TVH 4.3 Alpha add on in the Addons>Services section of LibreELEC.

I see you are asking the same question in a different but related post https://tvheadend.org/boards/4/topics/44878
Some work was carried out on the HD Homerun/ATSC side of TVH recently. If you do indeed see the TVH Alpha 4.3 in the addons section of LibreELEC I suggest you disable the TVH 4.2 version and install and enable the TVH 4.3 version and reconfigure TVH.
As you can understand I’m based in Europe using DVBS and have no way of running any tests for you.
There’s little or no ongoing development of LE 9x now and I would suggest upgrading to LE 10x following Mr Chromebox instructions and warnings on this subject.
In the meantime as a test try installing TVH on your laptop, pointing your Chromebox to the laptop IP address and see if you can scan and map channels successfully and have them play in LE on your Chromebox. That will rule out a number of troubling scenarios for you.

The TVH 4.3 is not available thru addons in LibreELEC. I tried to download the repository provided by Michael Marley using
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mamarley/tvheadend-git-stable
It didn’t work. I got this message.
-sh Apt-add-repository: not found
Any help will be appreciated

I did mention that it was unlikely that you’d find the TVH 4.3 server Alpha addon in LE 9. That’s why I suggested upgrading your Chromebox to LE 10.
Did you attempt to install TVH on your laptop to run the test I suggested.
This is not a TVH problem. It is a LibreELEC problem. I suggest posting on the LibreELEC forum explaining your problem and mentioning what hardware you have LibreELEC installed on and that you want the TVH server and client addon on the same Chromebox The addon maintainer should be able to guide you through this process.
He will probably suggest upgrading LE9 to LE10 as I have done.

Since i didn't have much success with LibreELEC, i tried my old Raspberry pi B+ model and installed TVH on it. It works. Only problem is that most of the channels listed on EPG are not local and appears to be from other countries.
I do see the local channels i want which are listed under DVB Inputs--> Services as shown in one of the pictures attached. I can even play them via Live TV Player. So it looks like i have all the services (channels) that i am looking for just not getting them on the EPG. Since i don't see them on the EPG, I can't record them. So, I need help in figuring out how to get the correct services/channels on EPG. Thank you.

Ensure the relevant EPG Grabbers are enabled, perform a scan again and Map all Services. The relevant EPG should appear against each channel.
What tuner are you using attached to the RPI B to scan the muxes.
Personally I’d just install LibreElec on the RPI B. You could then just add the TVH Server and Client from the addons section and have everything working from the one unit. It’s a lot simpler.
I still reckon you should post on the LibreElec forum and ask them for help configuring your Chromebox.
