Can't tune multistream from Eutelsat 5WB
Added by François Blondeau about 2 years ago
Hello everyone
I'm using Tvheadend with a DVB-T tuner since some time and I find that Tvheadend is great.
I installed recently a satellite dish connected to a Pulse 4K mini receiver ( SI266D demodulator, OpenATV system) to receive French radio and TV channels.
French FTA are broadcasted on 5.0W using multistream (MIS).
OpenATV/Enigma2 is tuning without any issue any transponder including 12732V which uses MIS.
I then installed Tvheadend on the receiver.
I updated the transponder list to include transponders from Eutelsat 5WB (default list was still referring to Atlantic Bird 3)
Unfortunately, Tvheadend will tune all transponders except the ones with MIS (no data).
Scanning after setting manually the PLS codes and stream number returns an error (invalid value 0).
I read that firmware/driver can be faulty but I wonder why would Enigma2 use different driver than Tvheadend and I do not know how to check this.
To recap :
- version of TVHeadend : 4.3
- OS : OpenATV 6.4 or 7.0
- TVHeadend package coming from OpenATV repo
- tuner chipset : SI266D (AB Pulse 4K Mini)
Thank you for your help!

I think TVH lacks support for these streams... I wish someone with the know-how could look into adding support. This type of delivery is becoming more and more popular.

These streams have been supported. Check this link for full details https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/14109?r=21911

Thanks for the reply.
No idea we had to alter mux settings.
Is there anyway to automatically set the PLS mode and code?
Do the other "expert" settings matter?
What about muxes like 11647V here https://www.flysat.com/en/satellite/express-am8? Can they work?

You have all the necessary settings listed here. Fill in the necessary sections of each mux in TVH and you should be able to tune each individual multistream. https://en.satexpat.com/mis/

What about T2-MI?

I don’t use DVB-T but you can see a bit of background to this on this post. You could open a GitHub feature request and see if anyone is working on this if it’s not already implemented https://tvheadend.org/issues/3477

If you look at the bottom populated mux here https://www.flysat.com/en/satellite/express-am8
You can see it is DVB-S... but I think the way it works is it has dvb-t streams inside it?

T2-MI is Transport stream over Satellite for DVB-T2 mux,
used for IRD to Modulator in local DVB-T2 transmitting tower.
Same as multistream for DVB-T
There is difference in encapsulation but do same
Same as ETI-NA/ETI-NI for DAB/DAB+/T-DMB radio

The four Muxes listed at the bottom are labelled data muxes. I doubt you’ll get any standard DVB receiver displaying them. As I mentioned earlier once you have the correct settings you’ll be able to display multi streams as you’ve seen.

What I meant by populated was the one with channels
