Different quality audio stream between live and recordings
Added by Sandy McCarthy over 2 years ago
Wife had recently noticed that the playback volume on recordings was lower than when watching the same channel live. Investigated a bit and noticed the audio stream was different. Example being BBC 1 HD live showed audio stream as ff-ac3, 32 bits, 48000 Hz. When I record the same channel and playback the audio stream changes to pt-ac3, 8 bits, 48000 Hz. I presume its the drop from 32 to 8 that is lowering the audio quality and making it sound lower.
Recording stream profile is 'pass' and I haven't changed any codec settings so can't quite work out why it plays live OK but then only records at 8 Bit. Also not sure why ff-ac3 changes to pt-ac3.
Backend is Tvheadend 4.3.0~pre+202204221649-0 on Ubuntu 20
Frontend is Libreelec 19.4 on RPI4 with Tvheadend HTSP Client 19.0.6.1
In the UK with Freesat if that helps.

What happens when you record the whole transponder TS (e.g. BBC 1 HD) and look inside for BBC 1 HD
and then the individual recording from stream profile with 'pass'?
Maybe mediainfo of both files would help as well.
