No longer able to view scanned cable channels - any change needed?

Added by jim dods almost 3 years ago

Hi all,

I have a HDHomeRUN with a cablecard and for many years have scanned it into TVH via ASTC-C network adapter. No issues until recently. My cable company, Optimum in USA-CT, recently sent a notice that they would no longer allow TVs without a cable box or CableCARD to get any channels. I thought I would be fine, but even with CableCARD lost the ability to receive local channels.

Looking into it more, I downloaded the HDHomeRun app, and scanned the channels. These channels were able to be viewed. Looking into the log of HDHR app, it says "Access= Subscribed" for when getting the channel. Not sure if this is new, but perhaps TVH is lacking some ability to see the channels? When I rescanned, those channels I use could not even be found (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX), while some could be (CW, MY9).

Anyone come across this and have any ideas?

Thank you.

Somewhat of an update -- using HDHomeRun software log since all the locals play on there, I found the channel location for ie, NBC. When I mapped that to TVH and tried to play it, it comes up "scambled" and listing says encrypted. So, it seems that TVH can no longer decrypt even though i have subscribed to the channel. Not sure if TVH can get by the changes that the cable company made.

**Another update -- besides HDHomeRun software, installed NextPVR backend, and that was able to find and play NBC, CBS, etc. But dont want to move to that.
