Change URL when active IPTV channel fails

Added by Eric S almost 3 years ago

I am new to the forum so I hope I am using the right terminology for the request.

Version of TVHeadend: HTS Tvheadend 4.2.8-36 ~ LibreELEC Tvh-addon v9.2.0.123
Running on what OS and version: LibreElec 18.9
Package that came with the OS or something you compiled yourself: No additional packages.
Adapter/tuner chipset or make/model: HD HomeRun Quatro

Detailed description of problem. If possible: Steps to duplicate:

In order to tune in a specific channel I created an m3u file with several URLs but only for one channel. Attaching them to the channels in use turned out to be pretty easy. When you initially turn it on TVHEADEND will scan through the list looking for an active signal. As a matter of course I try to keep the list limited to URLs that actually work so it won't take too long to find one.

The problem is that sometimes if there is a hiccup with the URL the server will try and fail to get the same one back. When I use VLC to test my m3u if it loses the signal it just goes on to the next one.

Is there a way or a setting to tell TVHEADEND that in the event the channel stops and the URL doesn't want to work to just go on to the next one?

Thanks,
Eric

I found what I was looking for more or less.

Under configuration and Steam Profiles there is a time out option that when it is not set to 'infinite' switches the MUX to another URL when the channel fails. Unfortunately if the next URL fails also there's no point to trying to watch, because everything is broken. I guess a better option would be to find out how to use TVHEADEND to transmit a live stream over the net so you could have a dedicated channel.
