HDHomerun Prime not listed under TV adapters

Added by Ronald Hernandez over 12 years ago

Hi All,

Brand new user here.

Been bashing my brains since yesterday.

Originally started with OpenELEC.
Everything appeared to work except I had same issue
(of HDHomerun Prime not showing up on list of tuners ... on TVheadend).

I have a separate Windows 7 system with Media Center & that works fine with the HD Prime.

I figured I was probably missing something so I tried XBMCbuntu instead, and then manually installed
the HDHomerun software from source (that I got from SiliconeDust website).
I can see tuner fine with their software as well. but nothing on TVheadend.

Finally I loaded a fresh vanilla Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit), reloaded the SiliconeDust software,
and installed a fresh TVheadend. Same thing, no tuners listed. UGH!

Any help\suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You need to create the virtual adapters for the networked HDhomerun device ( so, do the tuners show up in /dev?)
What is the output of:
ls /dev/dvb/ -l

As an example, in my case it gives:

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 100 Jun 12 09:22 adapter1
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 100 Jun 12 09:22 adapter2

where adapter1 and 2 are the first and second HDhomerun adapter.

Alex.

Looking for help :(

when I run ls /dev/dvb/ I do not see any devices.

How do I create the virtual adapters?

The instructions found in this thread would apply here. Just ignore the parts about pvr if you're not going to switch to the pvr branch. Especially pay attention to the link at the bottom for the script that makes sure that the hdhomerun driver is loaded before tvheadend starts. https://www.lonelycoder.com/redmine/boards/14/topics/3368

Indeed, as Joe says should work for Debian.

One note: if you have a new kernel (3.5 or something) you might need the newest version from the DVBHOMERUN sourceforge repository:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvbhdhomerun/

In that case, you need to compile from source.

Alex.
