crappy tuner
Added by matthew pollard over 12 years ago
I have a Afatech AF9015 DVB-T USB2.0 - I plug a tv in to the aerial socket and it works fine. Plug the the computer with the tuner in and try scanning for channels and no channels are found.
Is this normal - do dvb-t usb sticks perform worse than a tv at picking up the signal?
Are there usb sticks that do it better? do I just need a stronger signal?
Cheers
Matthew

thought I would follow this up - I think the stick is broken - tested it on other devices and other aerials without any success - bizarrely it registers on the machine etc.

not a crappy tuner - I was using the wrong frequencies. Now all is working. If you are in the uk having trouble tuning as I was beacuse the scan stuff id perhaps out of date use: http://www.ukfree.tv
You can search by postcode and it will give you a list of the muxes. The C(n) xxx.xMhz is the number you are after for tvheadend. Set the mode to 8k for all except the hd mux and then everything else to auto.
