Good Clear Qam Tuner Option

Added by George Lewis over 4 years ago

What is a good reliable choice for a Clear Qam (ATSC-C) tuner that will work well with Tvheadend? I have tried the Hauppauge 950Q, but that was a total failure. I can get about 40 channels unencrypted from my local cable provider if I plug directly into my tv. I'm thinking that one of the Silicon Dist products will work well but it is hard to tell which ones support Clear Qam from their website.

One would think the 950Q should work. I have no experience with this though. I've read other posts which suggest that scanning in QAM channels can take an extremely long time.

If you are familiar with rick caylor's satellite forum perhaps seek out a guy there named Majortom and pick his brain. He has done quite a bit of work with ATSC devices in Linux.

Thanks @Ron. I did find success going with NextPVR on Raspberian. I can tune all of the QAM channels and am testing it now. I'll be sure to look up Majortom if this route fails
