Tvheadend

In the past I have used nextpvr. It has been rock solid but I kept reading about tvheadend and I wanted to give it a try. I feel like I am missing something obvious but googling has not helped me. When I scanned my QAM cable (suddenlink) using nextpvr most (unencrypted) channels have a short name like "espn2" or "cspan". This makes mapping the channels I want much easier. I'm pretty sure nextpvr is pulling that data from cable but I am not finding a way to do this in tvheadend. Sorry if this question has been answered but I am struggling. Thanks.
