HDHomerun with Freeview (UK) poor quality
Added by G C over 4 years ago
Version: Build: 4.3-1857~g221c29b40 (2020-02-14T08:05:56+0100)
Hardware: Running on a high end synology in a docker (linuxserver/tvheadend). Using MACVLAN to avoid multicast issues. No resource constraints that I can see.
HDHomerun: HDHR4-2DT
How testing: using VLC and streaming from the channel and/or service with profile copy
the audio and video streams are distorted from the HDHomerun. Every few seconds the picture and/or audio breaks briefly as if there is a weak signal from the antenna.
When I use VLC and go directly to the HDHomerun for the same channel the stream is perfect. I also created an IPTV Manual mux in TVHeadend and pointed that to the HDHomerun (http://IP:5004/auto/v1) and was able to stream perfectly using that as well.
I noticed that the HDHomerun tuner status looks a bit better when I go direct through VLC vs having TVHeadend for the tuning - not sure if this is related at all
Appreciate any pointers in the right direction.

Hi,
I'm a n00b with all of this, running Kodi on a Raspberry Pi 3 with TVHeadend server running on a 918+ with the HDHomerun, and like you, the quality of the picture is considerably lower compared to the TV signal coming in from my TV box.
