Installation of TvHeadend under Windows' Linux Subsystem
Added by Di One almost 5 years ago
Hello,
for long time a successfully ran Kodi with TvHeadend under an LibreElec installation, but was now "foreced" to switch to Windows 10. Kodi is running quite fine and now I wanted to get TvHeadend working again. I installed Debian subsystem under Windows 10 - which is an "app" for Windows 10.
I followed an instruction on kodinerds.net which seems to be outdated (https://www.kodinerds.net/index.php/Thread/64852-TVheadend-unter-Windows-10-Howto/), because I was not able to get the tvheadend package with ap-get install ... and also found several reasons for that (which I did not all understand, but it seems to be a problem of the package hosting).
Ok, I then switched to the official description and followed the steps until "make". The make install step I didn't do, because I want to run TvHeadend permanently and therefore switched to the package page (https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/wiki/Packaging) and ran the command sudo ./Autobuild.sh -t xenial-amd64
The build seems to ran through, I didn't see any errors and the following are the last lines of the build:
dpkg-genbuildinfo --build=binary
dpkg-genchanges --build=binary >../tvheadend_4.3-1857~g221c29b40~xenial_amd64.changes
dpkg-genchanges: info: binary-only upload (no source code included)
dpkg-source --after-build .

When I now try to start the service tvheadend and got the following message:
sudo service tvheadend start
tvheadend: unrecognized service
Can you help me, how I have to continue? My linux skills are not the best...
