Getting lots of continuity errors, much less if I increase device status period

Added by void walker about 5 years ago

Getting lots of continuity errors (with visible visual glitches and sometimes stream interruptions), much less if I increase device status period.
With the default 1000ms I get an error every few seconds or so, if it's set to 8000ms the errors are only once 15seconds-a minute or so.
Have tried playing with the other device settings and the status period is the only one that makes a difference.
Playing the same station on the same tuner in kaffeine produces almost no errors at all (very rare visual glitch).

Signal levels: SNR: ~36.5 dB, signal strength: ~98dBm
System: Linux 5.2, celeron g1840, ssd, 8gb ram.

The tuner is this one: https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Astrometa_DVB-T2
Probably the 2018 revision as i bought it very recently, and it has the "Sony CXD2837ER"
Do I need a better cpu ? seems unlikely, if people run tvh on a Pi.
Any ideas ? Please tell me what commands to run for more debugging info.
Thanks.

Just found this: https://tvheadend.org/issues/5625
Tried it and guess what, no errors. Although I lose the signal readings (shows 0% signal).
Can anyone put these 2 facts together and determine what the problem is ? I'd say the driver needs some patching.
