Is there any way to get around this issue? I.e I want for example English channels to be numbered in the order they appear in the list from 1 and onwards and then do the same for each different country.

Delete iptv network and re create be sure to have following options

Scan after creation - disabled
skip startup scan - enabled
Idle scan muxes - disabled
Use service IDs as channel numbers enabled
Service ID set to 1

hi, sorry for bumping this old thread, but I'm facing the same issue.
after doing this, the channels appear in alphabetical order by their names, still not by the order they are written in the M3U file.
is there a way to make the order the same as the order in the m3u file?

From memory I followed the above and then set "Channel numbers from:" to 1 on the Network
