Peoject status and latest Ubuntu

Added by La Te over 5 years ago

To me it looks like the project has not been very active for a year or so. How is it? Is Tvheadend still under active development and maintenance? Also, is it working with latest Ubuntu? At least the apt repo seems to be for latest LTS only. Just thinking which PVR to choose.

It works fine on the newest ubuntu, even though the packages are named for older versions of ubuntu. It is normally quite active, but has gone stale for the laste few months, dunno why...

Why not build packages manually?

A bit of an obvious answer, isn't it, Mark? ;-) It is a pity, though, that this project is so non-transparent..... for instant, the latest post in NEWS is 2 years old. I remember the first time I visited this forum, and concluded that this was a dead project and abandoned it..... don't remember how, but some time afterwards I discovered that it wasn't really dead at all....

I know how to update all packages with apt upgrade. However, with my limited skills I don't know how I could automate building my own packages for all custom software I could add there. Hence, for me it is easier to maintain the system with ready made packages.

I got the same feeling but still wanted to double check. Maybe I'll give it a try then.

It is fine to be busy with other things.

It is not so hard, and process is semi-automated.

Yeah, it is very easy, but no so easy as just installing the pre-build packages. I build them myself originally, but I've just installed the pre-build packages lately.... would it make any difference at all?

Soon will add to manual how to make local folder repo,
until then this is way to have latest.
