I had the creepiest experience happen to me
Added by bob winters over 5 years ago
Last night I had a connection over the Internet to TVHeadend watching a couple of TV Channels. The connection was using VLC Media Player over HSTP and the ip address was registered from another ISP from within NZ. I had port forwarded both 9981 and 9982 because a couple of months ago I was testing the tvheadend android app over the Internet which required those ports. HTSP didn't have a password but for port 9981 I had set a password. I also have a secure reverse proxy for port 9981 to port 443 - tvheadend.mydomain.com
So.. What on earth? I wasn't me and I highly doubt it was anyone I know. I'm absolutely stumped and very creeped out about it. How did they (if it was a they) connect to it, find it and know how to stream a channel?
For now on, I have disabled port forwarding for 9981 and 9982 and for streaming I'll use Emby/Plex tvheadend plugins going forward.

If you see my drop list your experience is for near nothing
There are some cases where even credential was stolen.
Forget about streaming without credentials.
use ProgTV with auth /persistent authentication/ windows and android app.

I had the same thing today. Where can I enable a login for my TV Headend configuration?
I saw all sorts of recordings being added to my planned recordings!
