TVHeadend and Freesat (UK)

I've configured TVH to use two Freeview (DVB-T2) adaptors and I'm reasonably familiar with using it to record several TV programmes at once (maximum of 2 multiplexes since I have 2 decoders).

It looks as we may be moving to an area which has poor/no Freeview (terrestrial) reception and so will need to use DVB-S (satellite) instead.

I have a number of questions:

- If I understand correctly, the only situation where I can record more than one channel simultaneously on the same decoder is if they all have the same frequency and the same polarisation. Is that correct? I'm trying to work out how many decoders and LNBs in the dish I would need.

- What is the situation with regional variations? I gather that with a dedicated Freesat decoder/PVR (as opposed to a USB device and software such as TVH) you enter your postcode during configuration, and this maps the correct regional versions of BBC 1 and ITV to the low-numbered channel numbers 101/103 respectively. Does TVH not offer that mapping, so for BBC channels you have to find the appropriate regional variation from channel numbers in the 950-70 range. I see that ITV's regional variations are only accessible in Non-Freesat Mode, requiring frequency, polarisation and various other details to be supplied. Does TVH support creation of non-freesat channels (with some channel number that I provide)?

What decoder would people recommend that is supported by Raspbian? The main one that Amazon offer is the Hauppauge PCTV 491e, which I understand is supported, though there may be problems with recent versions of it because of changes to drivers.
