Problems with Telestar Twin SAT>IP

Added by stephen brightwood almost 6 years ago

Hi all,
I have a Telestar TV TWIN SAT>IP tuner which has very erratic behaviour. If there is the slightest disturbance to the Router the SAT>IP disappears from the TVHeadend interfact. Also if I have to reboot the Coreelec box the SAT>IP disappears. It was always twitchy but it seems to have gotten a hell of a lot worse recently - to the point that the SAT>IP is almost never available. Usually a hard power down of the Coreelec box brings the SAT>IP back, but even this seems not to be reliable now. If I had to depend on the Telestar I would be in a deep hole, but I also have an onboard SAT card on my Khadas Vim2 which is much more reliable.

Things I have observed:
-the Telestar has been allocated a fixed IP on its own setup screen.
-the Telestar is present on the router and always gets its fixed IP address.
-I tried allocating the same fixed IP within the TVheadend interface - but this stops tuning working and also blocks the built in tuner from working (they share the same SAT network)
-I can see no reference to the SAT>IP within the TVheadend log.

I am running the latest nightlies of Coreelec on a Vim2 S912 box, and I believe that they have recently disabled Upnp for security reasons. The version of TVh is HTS Tvheadend 4.2.7-34 ~ CoreELEC Tvh-addon v9.0.117
I attemptred to add the line "TVH_ARGS=" --satip_xml http://192.168.1.36:8080/desc.xml"" to the start script as recommended in the old help guides, but this had no effect or possibly made things worse.

Any help on getting this working reliably would be much appreciated.

Just in case anyone else stumbles across this with similar issues. I have sort of reached a solution to the issues of unreliable SAT >IP connections.
What seems to be the problem is the hand off between my internal tuner and the SAT > IP tuner when sharing the same NETWORK. My solution has been to allocate a separate NETWORK to the SAT > IP tuners which makes them always available to TVH to allocate to a stream. Things seem to be much more stable since doing this with far fewer lock ups and drop outs of the SAT > IP tuners.
