Importing PVR Recordings to New Install
Added by Kieren Hinch about 6 years ago
Hi all. Today I upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04 and consequently upgraded TVH from 4.0.9-16 to 4.2.7-17.
Unfortunately TVH refused to start after the upgrade. I tried moving the contents of .hts into another directory (.htsold), performed dpkg-reconfigure and started it up again. This time it started fine and the new wizard took me through a new config. (Just as an aside, I'm really impressed by the new config wizards. It looks like the team have been doing a lot of good work!)
So, all the old recording files were still in exactly the same place (it was only the .hts folder that I moved), so I copied the contents of .htsold/tvheadend/dvr/log back to where they should be (with the service stopped of course) and started it back up, but it found nothing. No recordings, no failed recordings, no removed recordings, nothing.
I singled out a log file and inspected its contents, and identified the config_name and channel fields as potential culprits. I tried editing the file to point to the new config_name (again with the service stopped) but it still didn't find the recording. So I changed the channel field to match the relevant new channel's ID, but this also failed to show the recording in any of the tabs.
Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong here please? I saw something similar in another thread but that just seemed to be about file path renaming.
Any help is much appreciated.
