Implications of binding TVHeadend to localhost?

What are the implications of binding the TVHeadend process to localhost (via the -b, --bindaddr switch)?
I mean obviously neither the HTTP web interface (default port 9981) or HTSP streaming protocol (default port 9982) would work without some alternate access, e.g. via a reverse proxy or SSH connection.
But should everything else work ok?
