transcoding with deinterlacing
Added by bas co about 7 years ago
hi all,
i want to make my clients deinterlace free.
so i started testing tvheadend transcoding with deinyterlacing on my tvheadend server.
my tvh server is an intel xeon 24 core 2 ghz, ssd's, 32gb ram etc.
is see that when tvh is deinterlacing the stream is uses 4-5 cores.
so far so good.
but when i play this stream on my kodi client (intel gbit dual cor 3.3ghz) it is not fluent, switching to it takes a long time, buffering etc.
and if i boot another client and watch tvh streams (no transcoding just passthrough) it stutters and stops and buffers etc.
what am i overlooking?

kodi deinterlace is not so bad

that's not the point.
currently, if you want to have android with full app support AND want to watch live tv with tvheadend, there are 0 options.
so deinterlacing on my server would increase that number to, well all andriod devices
maybe someone has already tried using tvheadend with transcoding+deinterlacing 1080i@50 Hz with yadif 1:-1 and would like to share there experience?
there is a bottleneck somewhare that makes tvheadend choke... but where...
thanks a lot!
