Recordings move to "Removed Recordings" with error file missing when IT IS STILL THERE

Hey guys. Unfortunately it seems like its another day, another TVHeadend bug. I have TVHeadend setup to record a show daily. It does record to an external HDD. However the problem arises when i go to "recordings" on the TVheadend front end client. It will randomly show no recordings at all in the list! Some times it will show the recordings and i can watch. Some days (like today, presently) i watched a recorded TV show, walked away to my PC and logged in to the TVHeadend web interface on PC, and saw that it said all my recordings were removed as file missing! I went back to my front end tvheadend client and BOOM all the recordings are GONE. I go to my Pi3 Server running TVHeadend with the external HDD and ALL THE RECORDINGS ARE PRESENT. I can play them fine over my network on my PC. WHY does TVHeadend incorrectly detect the recordings as "file missing". I understand that sometimes things happen and it might not detect the files right away however it seems completely absurd that you cant tell TVHeadend to search again and see the files are present! What am i doing wrong here! Perhaps we need some kind of definitive FULL guide to setting up TVHeadend with explanations of all the settings. It is very possible i am just setting it up incorrectly however, with the massive amount of settings i just dont know where to begin!
