Tvheadend

Hello, I'm sorry for ridicolous questions, but I am fascinated by this program. Unfortunately there insn't many documentation in my Language, so i can understand that tvheadend has great potentially, but I can't yet understand if to use it needed dvb card (or similar...even though I'm a technology fan, I do not know this branch)? MIght tvheadendserver work on openwrt?Sorry for my bad english
Edit i have read a parte of wiki configuration, i didn't understand exactly what is tuner for in the "circuit": tvheadendserver to clients. Is Tv tuner for the server or for the clients? Last week (how i said) i was interesting to tvheadend, so i install it (server and client) on my device. I took iptv list of italian Free channels, and folllowing guides, channels appeared in "muxing" but i could not to stream...that's all. I think it would be Amazing create a tv-lan working on avete room.
