Trying (and failing) to get my head around SAT>IP

Added by thermionic valve over 7 years ago

TVHE running 4.3-326~g3021698
TBS DVB-T2 cards installed and running very happily for terrestrial.

Decided I wanted to have a play with DVB-S, got a dish and Unicable LNB installed pointed at Astra 28.2, got a Digibox R1, made sure that it could see the freesat channels using its own firmware, booted the satip-axe firmware on the Digibox R1, followed https://github.com/perexg/satip-axe/tree/master/dist and added the line MINISATIP_OPTS="-u 0:1-1420,1:0-1210,2:2-1680,3:3-2040" to /etc/sysconfig/config on the Digibit R1, and then power cycled the Digibit R1 and saw that the line was still there in the config.

Was astounded when I restarted the tvheadend service and minisatip showed up in TV adapters automatically :-)

The pictures attached show how I configured minmisatip and the Freesat network I configured.

Under Channel/EPG | EPG Grabber Modules I enabled Over-the-air: UK:Freesat (already had Freeview enabled), under Bouquets I ticked the box for Freesat and did a Force Scan, also ran a Force Scan on DVB Inputs | Networks

Under channels, I'm only seeing 26 Freesat channels, so I presume I'm doing something wrong.

I have certainly discovered that DVB-S is a bit more complex than DVB-T, which seems to "just work" tm, so I may have made some basic errors in my setup

some progress, in /etc/sysconfig/config I changed the line

MINISATIP7_OPTS=""
to
MINISATIP7_OPTS="-u 0:1-1420,1:0-1210,2:2-1680,3:3-2040"

and now it has found a large number of additional services :-)
