Periodic save EPG

Would somebody kindly let me know where the EPG is saved to (if you set the 'Periodic save EPG to disk Interval') and whether it is in xml format?

I am using the current tvheadend-testing package for Synology NAS.

located in config folder with name epgdb.v2
its not in XMLTV format but
http://tvh.ip:/xmltv export it to xml
