Hauppauge Wintv-DualHD can't find all services in MUXes

Added by Terry Kramer over 7 years ago

I have two HTPC setups. My main system has a Hauppauge Wintv-HVR-2255 PCI dual tuner card. This system run Ubuntu 17.04, TVheadend 4.2.1.1-7, and the latest Kodi. Live in a small community with only 6 MUXes. Total of 27 services mapped to 10 channels. My 2nd system is a laptop, again Ubuntu, Tvheadend, Kodi, only this time I use USB Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD tuner. The 2nd system has the exact same 6 MUX configuration as the 1st system. When I do I "FORCE SCAN" on the second system, it completes the scan but does not find all 27 services like I expect. It finds the MUXs successfully and each MUX post a "OK" on the scan results, it just does not pickup all the services which I need to map to necessary channels. Hauppauge provides a Windows 10 application (WINTV V8)that is just a basic tuner. When I dual boot into Windows 10 and have WINTV V8 do a scan, it finds all possible channels, which I feel confirms that the WinTV-DualHD tuner hardware is performing as expected. I seems that TVheadend is getting different results from the Wintv-HVR-2255(PCI) vs. WinTV-DualHD (USB). Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a screen shot of TVheadend MUXEX section FYI.

Also, I am running UBUNTU 17.04 to make sure I'm on the Linux Kernel 4.10. 4.10 is suppose to have good Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD support. However I had to call Hauppauge support and they provided the latest drivers/etc direct from their own maintained repository. Before that, I could not get TVheadend to recognized the USB WinTV-dualHD device. Let me know if you need more information on this process.

This sounds more like a driver issue than a Tvheadend one. Use something like w_scan to see if that gets the same results as Tvheadend.

I think you are better off with crazycat's media_build than the Hauppauge drivers.
