TVheadend and HDHomerun
Added by David Brown almost 8 years ago
Hi,
I have an hdhomerun that is used by my Ubuntu 16.04 headless server. Currently I use it on the Plex beta DVR. It has loads of channels available to it, and records as required. I don't like the Plex EPG, so I want to have TVheadend running so I can look at a different EPG via Kodi or something else.
The problem I have is that only 2 muxes have any channels on them via TVHE. Plex on the same server and tuner has no problems, so I guess the HDhomerun drivers are installed correctly. I've tried adding the muxes manually as well as allowing it to scan (UK-Rowridge). Oddly enough, I get the same issue on a Pi TVHE. Same 2 muxes have same channels.
Any ideas please?

Hold fire on this for the moment - I have a feeling I need to get my aerial sorted out. The signal is weak on some muxes and I'm thinking that the homerun software is happy to use a weak signal but TVHE needs a decent signal to pick up the mux. I'll report back when I have the aerial sorted.

Are you using the same aerial and HDHR tuners? If so, then I'm not sure what the problem may be. If not, the problem is most likely the HDHR tuner.
The problem is that HDHR tuners are MUCH more particular about the signal strength than most other tuners are, especially those built into dedicated TV hardware. This is not only true if a signal is too weak, but also true if a signal is too strong; attenuators are sometimes needed to reduce a signal's strength for the HDHR to properly scan/tune a frequency.
