Known working DVB-C USB Tuners
Added by Anthony Thomas about 8 years ago
I'm interested to know what USB DVB-C Tuners are available that are know to work fully in Linux/TVHeadend.
I realise there's various lists on the LinuxTV wiki but I don't feel they are too accurate with various reported issues.
It would be good to know from TVHeadend users who are actually currently using various tuners successfully.
The reason I ask is that I own a couple of tuners that either don't work or don't work fully and I want something that works 100% - without overspending!
I will start, I own the following:
Astrometa DVB-T2/C
ID: 15f4:0131
Realtek RTL2832P
Panasonic MN88473
Rafael Micro R828D

Status: Works partially. It fails to tune frequencies above ~690 MHz (works fully in Windows)
XBox One TV Tuner
ID: 045e:02d5
Dicom 0700
MN88472
NXP 8250B
Support discussions here - https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/13685
Status: Very limited support - I haven't been successful in making it work
I would be interested to know whether anyone owns the Geniatech T230C and has it working fully with DVB-C, as that seems to be the next cheapest USB DVB-C Tuner on the market.

Ive tried the Astrometa DVB sticks and had the same issue.
I have a Hauppauge WinTV DualHD USB which works very well but only with one tuner, you could always go for the single tuner version. I am going to have a go at getting the xbox one tuner working myself.

Were you looking at using the ATSC version of the Xbox One Tuner or the smaller, slicker, more square-like Xbox One tuner? I'm wrestling with the latter, if you have any info about things you've tried or achieved I'd like to hear about it :).
