Silicon Dust HDHR3-US started working

Added by S Morrison over 8 years ago

I'm not sure who to thank, but I have been struggling to get my media center to receive TV signals, and suddenly it's working.

I'm running Kodi on a Raspberry PI 2, running OSMC. I've tried Kworld UB435Q and UB445 USB tuners, and couldn't get TV audio to work, so I bought a couple of Silicon Dust HDHR3-US tuners. After I got the HDHR3-US I got caught up to the point that i realized that Silicon Dust discontinued support for those tuners. I got them configured using the TVHeadend PVR addon in Kodi, and they did scan and build a list of mux/services, but when I attempted to select a TV channel in Kodi, the TVHeadend addon froze and crashed immediately.

I left that alone and continued to research the issue to see if I could find a solution.

A week or 2 ago (early June 2016) I tried the TV services again, and suddenly it was working, playback was fine including audio! I still have no EPG, but I'll continue to look into that.

However I still haven't been able to find any change log that indicates a change to fix this problem. The TVHeadend addon is 2.2.16.

Many thanks to whoever fixed this, and I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this change?

There is no such Tvheadend version, that version number is the add-on package version.

Tvheadend 4.1.xxxx now supports ATSC PSIP EPG data.

I just checked my TVHeadend version is at 4.0.9. I had reset the KODI settings and add ons, and apparently TVHeadend was backdated. Now I need to decide if I want to update TVHeadend to current version...
