Tvheadend not working after update
Added by Jens Wegmann over 8 years ago
Hello!
After my Synology ds214se updated to DSM 6.0 I had to update my tvh-installation from 4.1.988 to 4.1.1721. Therefore, I just installed the new package. Wenn I try to start tvh now, the cpu-usage goes to 100 % an stays high. The tvh-service is running but I cannot access the web-interface. The protocol says that tvh is migrating to the new version and a bzip2-process needs all cpu-power. I've waited three days, but nothing changes... can anybody help?
I don't want to re-install tvh completely, cause I don't want to loose the recordings-database...
Thx, Jens

You can stop the backup if you like just stop the Tvheadend & the tar processes then run tvheadend with the -B option after taking your own backup of your config directory, make sure you do this before starting it again in case configuration migration fails.

Thank You very much, but how can I do it? I stopped the service in the Web-UI, then started a ssh-session. And now? Typing "tvheadend -b" does not work ("command not found"). Sorry, but I am not familiar with Linux...

Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with Synology DSM, you may need to edit a start up script (where that is I do not know) to pass the -B option to Tvheadend.
All the -B option does is stops Tvheadend from automatically backing up it's config on boot but there must be something else preventing it from actually doing it and without any log of any kind it's hard to tell..
