How do you enable EIT scanning?
Added by Mike Freeman about 13 years ago
I don't have an EPG account with any pay services, and there are no free services in the United States (that I know of). However, I know that most channels in my area include EIT information on their signals. If I use MythTV, I can use this information to populate the EPG. I would like to do this with tvheadend (because it works better than MythTV on my older hardware). I can't find any options for it, and it obviously isn't on my default, because there is no information being put into the EPG page. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

For information - I'm not based in the USA - but I believe the US ATSC system uses the term PSIP for in-band EPG (i.e. programme listings broadcast alongside audio and video services) and that the data isn't cross-channel (as it is in Europe) - so you only get the PSIP EPG data for the ATSC mux (i.e. channels on the same RF frequency) you are currently tuned to.
I don't know if they describe this information as EIT in ATSC (though it may use an EIT mechanism)

ahh, yes misunderstood ur ask... it's the same thing, only different.
Indeed is referred to as EIT in the atsc standard also. Also an ETT.
