[Solved] webui Couldn't start streaming , No free adapter

Added by Harold P almost 9 years ago

My system :

Ubuntu server 14.04.3 LTS
TVHeadEnd 4.0.8 Trusty
DVBSky T9580 DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 Dual PCIe
Satellite signal 75%, signal quality 95%.

It worked flawlessly a few months with a DVB-T interior antenna
I then added a satellite dish
While scanning the mux, I opened a web browser on DVB-S2 tuner with BBC World during 8 minutes.
Works perfectly from 15:42:53 to 15:50:48

Feb 28 15:42:52 TVheadend tvheadend2162: http: 172.27.29.142: HTTP/1.1 GET /play/stream/service/63a9ca75ed6c319addec6244ca9942ff -- 401

I've closed the live window and wait for the scan to complete. A few minutes later I tried again to look a BBC World and it failed with "no free adapter" and "no input source available"

Since any live view window I try to open is failing with the same message.
I've tried both the DVB-S entry and the DVB-T entry with the same result. Both antenna can not fail at the exact same time.
I also rebooted. Shutdown and rebooted : no effect, still failing

I have reinstalled the whole software including linux. Mux scanning is fine, EPG is fine but I can't open a live window on any channel : no free adapter ????

I don't understand what's happening. Don't find anything strange in logs.
What can look for ? what to try to avoid this problem ?

Please help

No free adapter means just that, something else must be using the tuner (or it's not enabled) and the subscription fails because of this hence the no input source available message.

  • Have you tried playing the service in something other than your browser, VLC for example?
  • Checked user permissions?
  • Check the status tab to see what's active.
  • Tried latest git master?

I have the DVBSky T9580 myself and I've never experienced this, it may be a bug with 4.0.x that's been fixed in 4.1 (which will become the 4.2 release). So you may want to give that a go first (I use 4.1 mainly).

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply Mark

I tried with WebBrowser (safari), VLC, iPod/iPhone App which all failed.
It should not be a user permission because it was working 20 minutes before it fails, without any user action.
The status tab is empty.

I have a rapsberry pi with openelec that can open tvheadend subscriptions, I switch it off but it doesn't help either.

Finally on the second installation (without DVB-S2 enabled), I've allowed TVheadend Unstable update and upgraded to HTS Tvheadend 4.1-1575~g270a698~trusty.

I'm now able to open a VLC subscription on the DVB-T tuner, still not in Safari but that less important. I will reconnect the DVB-S later and try again.

Except for the browser subscription, It's working. :)

Thanks again Mark

I'm running Debian 8 (Jessie) On a HP Microserver N36L with kernel 4.4.2 Linux MicroServer1 4.4.2-220216c1 #2 SMP Mon Feb 22 19:00:07 GMT 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux (Custom config).

Do you have the molex power on the card connected to your motherboard?

Also have you checked dmesg when it fails?

RE: Suddenly : webui Couldn't start streaming , No free adapter - Added by Harold P almost 9 years ago

I've checked dmesg, there are no messages added there when it fail.

At boot it looks successful :
[ 6.912262] m88ts2022 3-0060: Montage M88TS2022 successfully identified
[ 6.930669] SMI PCIe driver 0000:0b:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (Montage M88DS3103)...
[ 6.937735] SMI PCIe driver 0000:0b:00.0: DVBSky SMI PCIe MAC= 00:18:33:54:85:52

On the T9580 I have a 6 pin female connector and an adapter to get 12 VDC from a SATA internal connector. I do use this to feed the LNB.
As signal level & quality are good, mux scanning successful, I don't suspect the power supply. It's connected on a free "Aux & SATA" connector on the server Corsair PSU.

One special thing, my tvheadend server is a esxi v6 virtual machine with PCIe passthrough. But as it worked flawlessly for months with the DVB-T tuner, it shouldn't be a problem. I've also tried to expand PCIe reserved memory space with the PCIHOLE vmware settings without success.

I will try again this week-end and if it fail, will give a go to Debian Jessie.

Thanks Mark

I had to reinstall from scratch version HTS Tvheadend 4.1-1575~g270a698~trusty on ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS server.
Both entry are working, DVB-T and DVB-S

Now struggling with oscam....

By the way are you are to record one channel while you're looking at another with the T9580 DVB-S input ?

I'm surprised to be able to do that on the DVB-C/T tuner but not the DVB-S/S2.

Edit
Found that I can open multiple stream from the DVB-S as long as they are in the same Mux, see example for France : https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/record_multiple_channels_from_one_multiplex#France
