TimeShift issues
Added by Sulla Sulla over 8 years ago
Dear all!
I have timeshift issues with my tvheadend headless server setup under ubuntu linux:
I run ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS wit a 3.19 64bit linux kernel and tvheadend 4.0.8 installed from the official repository (deb https://dl.bintray.com/tvheadend/ubuntu stable main).
Everything is working nicely, except for timeshift.
Everything includes:- watching live TV via tvheadend web-interface and VLC player
- watching live TV via Kodi tvheadend clients
- recording to disk
- watch recordings
- setting timeshift parameters in the web-interface
- descrambling with oscam on the same server
- I can pause liveTV and then start playback a few minutes later. It starts normally but suddenly drops out of timeshift and jumps (I believe directly and without visual glitches) to liveTV without user intervention.
- I can jump back 10sec or 30sec, but then playback starts sometimes without sound, sometimes with sound and sometimes the video is frozen. When I wind forwards to catch up with liveTV, I fall out of the station and liveTV stops.
- winding forwards and backwards in TimeShift is possible, but very often the vidoe in the client freezes, stutters or crashes.
- when KODI and tvheadend is the client, the time indication during timeshift does not really make sense to me, but probably I just do not understand the reading.
- on-demand: no
- unlimited time
- unlimited HDD size
- use only RAM (I also tried to stream to HDD which fills up as expected, but playback does not improve)
- AMD Athlon X2 3800+, socket 939 processor (processor usage is generally less than 20%)
- ASRock 939A785GMH128MBSP Mainboard
- 4GB Ram
- 40 GB PATA HDD for system
- 80 GB PATA HDD exclusively for TimeShift
- 4x DVBSky S960 USB receivers
- smargo smartreader v2 for oscam
- Windows VLC player with HTSP plugin
- Windows VLC player directly from tvheadend webinterface
- Linux ubuntu desktop VLC player
- raspberry Pi with Kodi 6.0.1 and tvheadend client addon
Anyone knows what is wrong with my setup? Is my server hardware too old and too weak?
