August T210v2 / Geniatech T230 DVB-C in Sweden

Added by Stephen Neal almost 9 years ago

Hi all

Am helping a friend out with their Tele2/Bredbandsbolaget set-up in Sweden. They have a DVB-C feed which apparently has unencrypted SVT1/2/TV4 in SD (and possibly SVT1/2 in HD)

They've got an August T210v2/Geniatech T230 tuner, and they're running OpenElec on a Raspberry Pi 2.

The tuner appears to work with w_scan (though we've tried different firmwares just in case) - but whatever we try it won't appear in TV Headend (Build: 4.0.8 ~ OpenELEC Tvh-addon v6.0.3)

We get errors like :
2016-01-24 21:09:22.000 mpegts: 370MHz in BBB - tuning on Silicon Labs Si2168 : DVB-C #0
2016-01-24 21:09:22.000 linuxdvb: Silicon Labs Si2168 : DVB-C #0 - failed to tune [e=Invalid argument]

dmesg | grep dvb output here http://pastebin.com/EhSYcRuG
w_scan -f c -c SE output here http://pastebin.com/Zq5Ah2kV

Saw this thread : https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/19407?r=19453#message-19453 but it doesn't seem to help. (We've tried both 4.0.19 and 4.0.11 firmware versions in dvb-demod-si2168-b40-01.fw but they don't appear to make any difference.

Has anyone got a T210v2/T230 properly working with DVB-C?

I don't have DVB-C but I do have the August T210v2 for DVB-T/T2. What arguments are you supplying to Tvheadend? I'm not sure this may apply to DVB-C but make sure you're entering the correct number of zeros, e.g. 434000 would be 434000000.

Generally Invalid argument means the driver didn't like the input it was given by Tvheadend, it more than likely requires no AUTO values.

Cheers Mark - will ask him to give it a go. The only thing we had on AUTO was FEC, which for DVB-C looks often to be NONE. (I guess the RF is cleaner?)

Have double checked frequency is in Hz and it is - and TV Headend appears to confirm this : 2016-01-24 21:09:22.000 mpegts: 370MHz in BBB - tuning on Silicon Labs Si2168 : DVB-C #0

No - replacing AUTO with NONE hasn't changed things.

Annoying thing is it is working with w_scan.
