Different channels of seperate tuners
Added by Rob Mccombe almost 9 years ago
Hi everyone.
I have a question I'm a curious about.
I have 4 tuners on 2 seperate cards.
One card has twin dvb-s tuners and the other has 1x dvb-s tuner and one dvb-t tuner.
Say I'm connected to itv 1 on one device then on a other device I connect to say BBC one.
Will tvheadend automatically use another tuner or should I be setting something up when I'm adding services.
At the moment I've added muxes from network to each tuner then mapped all services.
When mapping services I do check merge duplicate channels as otherwise I get 4 lots of every channel.
Am I doing this correctly or will that cause problems.
Reason I ask is because I've just tried connecting from a second device and it said no adapter free within kodi on some channels.
Thanks

It'll use another tuner if the channel is on a different frequency.

If you're running a recent version of Tvheadend use the bouquets feature this automatically keeps your channels updated just like a Freesat set top box would including all the crap channels but you can disable/hide those. You may need to refresh your channels on your frontend every so often (if kodi, use clean data in the TV config).
Seeing as you're in the UK make sure you use the "Use EPG running state" option in the DVR config this provides an accurate recording/Freeview+ like functionally it works pretty well for me so far but if you notice recording screwing up disable it. No more guff at the start and end of programmes!

Have you enabled the secondary adapters and use the same network for both cards? If you're using separate networks you'll need to add the services from those to your channels.
I have two Networks Waltham for DVB-T/T2 and Astra 28E for DVB-S, I've mapped all the services I want as channels on the network Astra 28E I've then added DVB-T2 services to those channels.
Services mapped to channels.
Adding additional services to channels (make sure to check the checkbox).
Thanks
